it’s okay to read only YA. it’s okay to not read YA at all. it’s okay to read only fanfiction. if you are reading, you are doing it correctly. stop belittling others for enjoying what they read

yes definitely. and it’s also ok to not enjoy reading.

the worst is when you’re reading a really good book that follows multiple characters’ stories and you love it 90% of the time until it periodically switches back to that one character’s story that you just could not care less about and it’s like an entire chapter of internal groaning while waiting for the plot to switch back to a character you actually care about

fallenangelsfantasy asked:
what type of books do you normally read?

Hi! Sorry this took changes to answer! I must had missed it in my ask!

I usually read YA and contemporary fiction. I find these the most enjoyable :).

I haven’t really read that many classics, and the ones I have read I don’t really like and it usually takes me AGES to get through. I’m not the biggest fan of non-fiction stuff either unless it’s something like “Mao’s Last Dancer” by Li Cunxin.

I like some more adult stuff too like Dan Brown’s books and some mystery/crime like Agatha Christie.

At the moment other than trying to read more classics, I’m also trying to read more Australian literature like John Marsden and more diverse books; one of my favourite authors being Khaled Hosseini and Amy Tan (although they are fairly main stream, there’s a few more books and names that aren’t coming to me at the moment).

Thanks for the question! I had a pleasure answering it :)

So, this is my new reading list. No YA and mostly classics.

Reason? I am sitting the LSATs in October and I need to up my reading game. As much as I love YA and contemporary fiction, I need to improve my reading ability and to do that I need to challenge myself.

I mean yeah, I have tons of unread books on my shelf, but do you think that’ll stop me from buying more?
